After much debate, deliberation & copious consumption of alcohol on Friday night, THE results, as they say, are in! In true Reality Telly fashion, entries for the FRAMINGO VANILLE COMPETITION have all been counted, checked, verified & laughed at! DO NOT submit anymore entries as these will be discarded & your name may be published on this site for the purposes of ridicule! Its hats- off to SARAH CARTER from sunny CLEETHORPES down there in the east coast of England. Congratulations Sarah from all up here at THE TOWERS! Sarah correctly selected Mr PLASTIC BERTRAND as the odd one out for the reason that he is, of course, a native of that stunning & underrated (..eh?) European jewel BELGIUM !.... and the rest? Well, as is now doubtless plain to one & all, they all are, or have been, highfliers of the French Music scene! Whilst most of you were quick to spot this, it was the knowledge displayed by Sarah of all things concerning French music which put her ahead of the pack!

As the dust settles after another legendary FRAMINGO soiree in our hostelry of choice, THE CANARVON BAR in Glasgow , FRAMINGO wish to convey our sincere apologies to the wonderful bar staff & clientele who were doubtless rendered dumbstruck as FRAMINGO commandeered the famed boozer's Jukebox. There is simply no excuse , other than the dangerous levels of alcohol partaken , which justifies inflicting a mixed bag of sounds on the occupants of the city centre hostelry. From CAMPAG VELOCET & SLADE to THE INSPIRAL CARPETS & Ayrshire's very own SYDNEY DEVINE , the surreal atmosphere made for a great night out for one & all ....we think?! FRAMINGO XXX

Having taken the decision to turn a collective blind eye to the annual corporate back-slapping fest that is THE BRITS, FRAMINGO are concentrating instead on the real issues of concern in “the music biz”, namely, just who is going to win the FRAMINGO VANILLE COMPY? With entries flying in right, left and centre, we have been taken aback at the interest in this latest FRAMINGO ditty…and not least with the surprising number of correct entries! It seems like only a couple of weeks ago we at FRAMINGO were harbouring thoughts of the Mighty PARTICK THISTLE scaling the heady heights of the Scottish First division & beyond, to even consider where we would be celebrating wins in the Premier League next season over PINKY & PERKY! Alas, before you can say “Who the f*** is Mark Corcorrrrannn?” we find our favourites slipping down the table faster than Tony BLIAR creeping out the confessional at his local chapel! It seems yet another season of mid-table mediocrity awaits... Framingo XX

RECESSION ENDS ....WHAT RECESSION?

Yup! It seems the credit crunchie thingy which has kept us all entertained over the last 18 months is now a thing of the past! Well, according to the twonks that got us into it, it is! So all is well with the world it seems... Sadly, the apparent waves of euphoria sweeping through the banking fraternity have not yet hit THE TOWERS! Whilst our last epic WELCOME TO FRAMINGOLAND has virtually sold out in CD format , the level of downloads has been more than a tad disappointing. For a small, non- profit making label like ours, this sadly restricts our ability to invest in new talent & curbs our stated aim to enhance your lives with fresh, vibrant sounds from the country's finest up & coming bands. We continue to support all our existing acts & trust that you too will continue with your ever welcome patronage. Our shop remains open for business for CD & vinyl sales & the bulk of our back catalogue is available for download via the usual suspects. Whilst we are more than happy to receive your demos & My-Space links to new bands & tracks, present circumstances mean that we will be unable to release new material for the time being. Hopefully, when those promised waves of euphoria signalling the real end to the recession hit the shores of FRAMINGOLAND, we will once again be able to launch the careers of the next big thing.....until then, keep it tuned to FRAMINGO for all the news & views you really need FRAMINGO xxx

OSCAR! OSCAR! OSCAR!

Let us take you back a few weeks, pre- THE BIG FREEZE, pre- Partick Thistle relegation woes & definitely pre-TONY bLIAR Iraq inquiry ....to the onset of December, if you will! As you may recall, our old mucker MARK SLOSS was in town to promote his stunning movie VANILLE as part of the UK -wide FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL. The entire FRAMINGO family & friends, together with members of LITTLE JOHN ROCKET & their fans, attended for this little soiree. Given the tragic events surrounding the untimely passing of SILVER, it was a subdued but nonetheless poignant evening, particularly for the LJR crew who made it along. There was a healthy turnout at the GFT to witness this thought provoking short brought to life by the LJR epic BASEMENT. All were agreed that the stunning visuals were superbly enhanced by the outstanding soundtrack, a combination rendering VANILLE a must see for all those who revere the Glaswegian sound smiths! And for those of you not fortunate to catch the movie during December, fear not! For your old pals at FRAMINGO will be giving one of our lucky punters a chance to get their mitts on a rare copy of this masterpiece!!

SILVER

As you will be aware from the recent entry by LITTLE JOHN ROCKET on these here pages, SILVER , guitarist and song smith extraordinaire with the ubiquitous Glaswegian quintet, sadly passed away at the end of 2009 . There is little FRAMINGO can add to the words expressed previously by LJR. Suffice to say that SILVER was always a pleasure to work with. His enthusiasm for the band and their music and, more importantly , the camaraderie he shared with the guys in the band , ensures his memory will endure for all those who knew him. Our thoughts and condolences go out to all family and friends .

HANDS UP, BABY HANDS UP!!

In the week that FRAMINGO welcomes our friends from FRANCE to these shores with the long awaited FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL, much amusement has been enjoyed here at The Towers surrounding the furore over the handball incident at last week's WORLD CUP Qualifier in gay Paris. Given the exploits of a certain JOE JORDAN at Anfield some 31 years ago to secure SCOTLAND's qualification for ARGENTINA '78 (ask yer parents!!) it seems to us a tad trite to castigate Mr Henry. Suffice to say, we at FRAMINGO will be extending the HAND of friendship to our friends from the AULD ALLIANCE when they arrive in GLASGOW on 1st December for the screening of VANILLE, featuring our very own LITTLE JOHN ROCKET! The whole FRAMINGO crew will be there hob-nobbing it with the good and the great of the movie industry ...well, MR SLOSS at least!

FROM TATI TO DOHERTY!

Strange but exciting times indeed up here at THE TOWERS! Never let it be said FRAMINGO doesn't attract excitement & diversity in bucketloads! What other label out there can boast connections with both the legendary French cinematic icon JACQUES TATI &, perhaps the greatest British songwriter of his generation, PETER DOHERTY? We suspect that the answer to that question is unquestionably in the negative! As you will be aware, LJR feature on the soundtrack of VANILLE which is showing nationwide as part of the FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL over the next month, sharing the billing with some of TATI's masterpieces......check our previous article for all the exciting details. We've got our penguin suits off to the cleaners in readiness for the big night .

And as excitement mounts for our forthcoming sojourn to the cinema, our very own SKUZZIES have been forging ahead heroically in their assault to capture the hearts & minds of the nation. None other than living legend PETER DOHERTY shared the stage recently with our heroes adding his own distinctive vocal slant to THE SKUZZIES' classic ON THE CORNER. FIRHILL FOR THRILLS, FRAMINGO FOR FRILLS!

The FRAMINGO clan descended en-mass last Saturday to take in the celebrations afoot up the West End of Glasgow in honour of 100 years of playing the beautiful game at FIRHILL STADIUM by the mighty Maryhill Magyars, The Harry Wraggs, The Jags, The Thistle, The Partick Thistle F.C. Not for us the debt-strewn monoliths of The Emirates , Wembley and their like. The only true “Field Of Dreams” is that thing of beauty which has endured for a century nestling by the banks of the Forth & Clyde Canal . Forever the perennial underdog in a City sadly dominated by the twin evils of Pinky & Perky , The Jags continue to exude the passion, fairness & single-mindedness bereft in a football landscape dominated by over-inflated egos & obscene wage packets!

Here's to another century of thrills , heartache and unbridled highs.

PS : And to top it all, a magnificent 2-0 drubbing of Dunfermline sealed a perfect day!! FRAMINGO xx

BOMB THE BASS (PLAYER)...

What with the media fixated with the drink, drug & sexual shenanigans of singers & general front personages who inhabit the heady world of Rock'n'Roll, FRAMINGO has had good reason recently to consider the plight of the much maligned bass player! Yes indeed, the wizard of the four string, the master of the f retless, & the whinger with little talent propping up the bass bins. Where would we be without their input? Given their collective track record, FRAMINGO feel it is high time this endangered species were given the recognition they so richly deserve. So let us raise a glass to the undoubted kings of what is unarguably the easiest of all rock instruments to master... DEE DEE RAMONE, LEMMY, SID VICIOUS, PHIL LYNNOT, JOHN ENTWHISTLE, NOEL REDDING we salute you. McCARTNEY, STING & not forgetting that tadger from LEVEL 42 & all other bass players within that category, time to exit stage left.

LITTLE JOHN ROCKET R.I.P .

It is with a tear in our eye & not a little sadness that Framingo regret to confirm the news we have feared for some time, THE MIGHTY JAGS are not going to win the First division this year. No, seriously, as those of you who keep tabs on all things Framingo you will no doubt be aware of the passing of the mighty LITTLE JOHN ROCKET. The ubiquitous “musical differences” is for once absent from the band's official statement & it seems there are future projects on the horizon for all parties. It has been an absolute pleasure working, playing & drinking with the guys & Framingo wish them all the best wherever their own roads take them. DID YA MISS US, YEAH?

Now that memories of the annual BEANO have been consigned to the photo album & the bucket & spade ensemble likewise despatched to the nether regions of the cupboard beneath the stairs, Framingo are back bigger, bolder & suitably refreshed! And it seems that the more things change, the more they stay the same ---a theory no doubt espoused by some day-time telly person at some point, but true none the less! Take, for example, the annual circus of outdoor rock shows typified by the monolith that is U2. What with the media going into hyperbole over the logistical statistics & not least the obscene cost of the whole shebang, you'd be forgiven for believing there is a recession of hitherto unseen proportions gripping the world! Big Bono, man of the people charging £150.00 a skull to witness this Jurassic Park!! Was it not just 30 odd years ago that we thought that the emergence of PUNK had put the likes of the grotesque E.L.P., PINK FLOYD, YES & their likes to the sword? Fast forward to 2009 & what do we have? The hypocrisy embedded within the whole U2 machine is clearly there for all to see .
