BACK IN THE FRAMINGO GROOVE!
Welcome back music loving friends & an especially warm FRAMINGO welcome to those FRAMINGO VIRGINS out there in cyberspace joining us for the first time. Joining our band of lovers of decent, incorruptible, pure rock n roll from the heart!
FRAMINGO have returned from our sojourns far & wide, battery packs well & truly charged & raring to resume our stated mission to save the future of ROCK N ROLL!
And given the shape of things on our return, THERE IS NO TIME TO WAIT! The airwaves are still plagued by passion starved careerist “pop-stars” & the return of the ubiquitous reality “talent” circus, with its ringmaster, the anti-Christ incarnate, SHITFACE COWELL at the helm!
Over the coming weeks we will keep you up to speed on how you can help shore up the barricades & ensure there IS A FUTURE out there for the kind of music that floats the proverbial boats of all true INDEPENDENT MUSIC!
STAY TUNED to find out the latest details of LITTLE JOHN ROCKET at KING TUTS on 7th SEPT! …How THE SKUZZIES have spent the summer gigging & winning over an army of new fans & admirers … Just WHO do FRAMINGO have our eye on as an addition to our stable? All this & more will be revealed over the coming weeks…
And lets give a mention to KORKY MCCALL & the MARYHILL MAGYARS who have made a steady if unremarkable start to the new footie season…. Talk of the CHAMPOINSHIP is at best a tad premature, but we live & breathe in hope… Framingo xx24.07.08

AND THE WINNER IS ………..
After much deliberation, argument & general mucking around, FRAMINGO have now reached a final decision on this years SUMMMER COMPY! For those of you sitting with your breaths well & truly bated, the winner is CLARE BUTTON from the grand Weakest Link loving city of Swansea in North Wales. Well done Clare, the entire FRAMINGO back Catalogue, including a copy of each & every FRAMINGO release, together with sundry limited edition CDs & rarities & not forgetting the I-TUNES gift token are being despatched southwards as we live & breath! The winning entry to be placed beneath the snap of the legend that is IGGY POP reads:
“ Nobody believes me, it's just a healthy diet & early nights that keeps me in shape!”
Sadly, a great number of entries made reference to the bespeckled chap to the left of IGGY but our lawyers have suggested we refrain from publishing these in view of the said person's resemblance to some bloke who owns a large computer software company or something!
Thanks to all those who took the time & effort to enter ….. better luck next time etc, etc Framingo xxxxx12.07.08

REVOLUTION BEGINS THIS FRIDAY!
From the establishment of Island Records in 1958, independent labels have long played a vital role in UK music . The likes of Chrysalis, Rough Trade, Factory, Beggars, Mute , & more recently XL Recordings, Domino, FRAMINGO, Warp, Wichita, Dance To The Radio & many others have often led the way in terms of both new talent & new music genres. For years now, the fat cat run Majors have been lamenting the dearth of "new & exciting music” - music that ignited passion the way punk & alternative rock had before big record labels & Gap commercials co-opted their sounds.
Starbucks has stolen our coffee, HMV have hi-jacked our music & Borders has robbed the local bookshop. So it comes as a blessed irony that major record labels haven't been able to keep an iron fist over the music industry. As the bigwigs increasingly get the cold shoulder by both artists (see Radiohead's pay-what-you-like In Rainbows ) & fans (some 70% of music is obtained FREE from file sharing sites!), the trade seems to be priming once again for an indie moment.
We at FRAMINGO RECORDS are fully supportive of this campaign & urge you, the discerning music lover out there, to stand with us & those behind the fight to secure the future of truly INDEPENDENT MUSIC27.06.08
Forget all notions of GEORGE WASHINGTON, the Boston Tea Party and all that malarkey , what we're talking about here is next FRIDAY 4th JULY, INDEPENDENTS DAY, a global celebration of all things Indie related! From WARP to POSTCARD, FACTORY to ROUGH TRADE …and not forgetting your very own FRAMINGO RECORDS, the names of these landmark labels echo down the years. Believe it or not, it's FIFTY YEARS since CHRIS BLACKWELL conceived ISLAND RECORDS in JAMAICA setting the tone and ethos for future Indie labels and bands. Over the years some have faded or sold out to the bullies in the playground, whilst others, like FRAMINGO, remain true to the original aesthetic preached by BLACKWELL and his cohorts… DOING IT PURELY FOR THE LOVE OF IT, THE JOY OF IT and THE SHEER HELL OF IT! So click on the image above & sign up to Independents Day!!
So come next FRIDAY, why not pause for thought and give thanks for the INDEPENDENTS and our continuing efforts to maintain the true ethos of music. And better still, why not visit your local indie store and pick up some goodies …or better still, get on to our very own shop page and make sure you're fully stocked up with the full FRAMINGO catalogue! IT'S NO TURKEY SHOOT!
Given that the TARTAN ARMY has an unfortunate leave of absence this summer, FRAMINGO have but a mere passing interest in the EURO2008 footie-fest in Sound of Music land this summer! Nevertheless, a few games have raised themselves above the mountain peaks and we here at FRAMINGO TOWERS can't help but nod in appreciation towards the sterling efforts of the tournament underdogs, TURKEY. Is it the never-say-die attitude? The solid, but fair, defending? Or do we j ust detect a wee teeny bit of our very own psyche embedded in the efforts of the men from Asia-Minor? For tomorrow nights semi-final between GERMANY and TURKEY think EMI V. FRAMINGO RECORDS, with your very own Indie label taking on the mantle of men from Turkey!!! ….The result? If there is any justice, the underdogs will win through, on penalties no doubt!!16.06.08
WANNA BE OUR DOG?
AS promised last week, we are pleased to confirm the details of the FRAMINGO summer 2008 fabidoo competition! For those of you familiar with this type of thing, we have come up with another of our ever-popular caption competitions . The drill is pretty straightforward…. Below you will see a snap of soon-to be pensioner IGGY POP pictured in full flow at last weekend's ISLE OF WHITE mud fest. The punter who pens (in the opinion of FRAMINGO ) the wittiest caption will pick up the loot! And to this end, we are delighted to confirm that the main prize will consist of: COMPLETE FRAMINGO BACK CATALOGUE (MING 1-9), sundry FRAMINGO rarities, promos (including LJR & Skuzzies newies) and freebies all of which will be topped off with an I-TUNES gift voucher allowing you to download all FRAMINGO classics to your poddy thingy!! Unfortunate runners up will receive an individually numbered FRAMINGO vinyl single, a number of which have been changing hands for literally loads of pennies on E-BAY!!!
Get those entries in to iggycomp@framingorecords.com as soon as! Remember, nothing offensive, sexist, racist or indeed from paid up members of the Tory Party will be entertained. Framingo artists and employees are welcome to enter but will not win as that is patently unfair and the sort of thing that you can only really get away with without the cops being involved at ITV or the BBC! Closing date is MONDAY 7th JULY 2008. BON CHANCE Framingo xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

NEVER MIND THE TROSSACHS……..
Its that time of year again when thoughts turn to sunny skies, boozy sessions in the beer garden of yer local and the inevitable raft of ROCK FESTIVALS. Indeed, given the sheer number of these generally over-priced and under-talented mudfests, which pre-dominate the calendar over the summer months, you'd be forgiven for thinking that a return to sad old days pre- 1976 when HIPPIES roamed the planet were here, and to a certain degree you would be correct! But fear not our Punky friends for the saviours of modern tunesmithery; THE SEX PISTOLS are headlining the LOCH LOMOND FESTIVAL at the beginning of AUGUST! We know it's so very sad , but what excites us is the news that SIR PETE OF DOCHERTY will be joining the bill to play a SOLO SET! And as you all know, as a long time mucker of our very own SKUZZIES, we are girding our collective loins at the prospect of this being ONE summer shindig not to be missed! Stay tuned for all the latest news as we get it xx03.06.08
LJR TO JOIN FORCES WITH CANNES AWARD WINNING DIRECTOR!
You may recall a few short months back Framingo introduced you to Hong Kong based Film director MARK SLOSS? Well, we are absolutely over the proverbial moon to announce that Mr Sloss collected not one but TWO prestigious AWARDS at THE CANNES FILM FESTIVAL for his stunning short “MY UNIVERSE”. The gong for BEST EMERGING DIRECTOR and another for DISTINGUISHED DOCUMENTRY are richly deserved given the sheer quality and insight exhibited in the thought provoking “short” which highlights two distinctive & alternative views from the locals on the CANNES Festival itself. And as if that wasn't enough on it's own to merit the gongs LJR debut single AT AN END is the soundtrack!! Why not catch the movie here and e-mail us your views?
As a result of the Sloss European success and his love of the LJR sound , we are delighted to confirm that discussions between his “people” and FRAMINGO are now at an advanced stage, which will see this award winner direct and produce a LITTLE JOHN ROCKET video. As soon as we have fuller details on this exciting development, you will read it here first!!
Also on the film front two other Framingo bands have been chosen to feature on scores which is on the hush front at the mo but once again keep tuned to all things Framingo & all will be revealed soon!! Hollywood here we come!!

SKUZZIES FORTUNES ON THE RISE
It goes without saying that we here at FRAMINGO have been mesmerised from the outset with the talent and sheer determination exhibited by our favouritest band from “The Big Smoke”…. But with their latest release DISSATISFIED E.P (Ming 09) receiving a welcoming feedback from music journos, fellow musicians ( Sir PETE, MR PERRETT et al) and most importantly from their burgeoning fan base, THE SKUZZIES have every right to view the coming months as the most exciting chapter in their history to date! With much going on behind the scenes, we are hopeful of making a couple of very, VERY big announcements over the next couple of weeks! Just keep it tuned to FRAMINGO and be the first on your street to share in these heady times with THE SKUZZIES & US xx28.05.08
(DIS)SATISFACTION GUARANTEED…or your dosh back!!!

LITTLE JOHN ROCKET UBER ALLES!
AT short notice FRAMINGO stalwarts LITTLE JOHN ROCKET were invited to join none other than US punk legends THE DEAD KENNEDYS at Edinburgh's LIQUID ROOMS last Friday night 23rd May! Whilst The Kennedy's (minus one or two original members, not least Mr BIAFRA ) headlined the event, there can be few in the sold-out venue who could not have been impressed by the short but tight set put in by LJR. Coming onstage early is never easy, but LJR seized the moment bursting straight into FORGET ABOUT US. Early arrivals at the Edinburgh venue were taken aback by the sheer intensity of the performance. The all too short set was completed by WE BECAME THEM, current single BASEMENT and debut single AT AN END. Although time was short, the impression made will be everlasting and many new converts to the LJR sound were forged.
Its heartening to note that second support act GUNS ON THE ROOF, whilst appeasing the hard-core punks in the venue, did not achieve the recognition the Glaswegian quintet garnered from the experienced headliners. THE KENNEDYS left Scotland firm friends and fans of LITTLE JOHN ROCKET …next stop LA for our heroes!

Yes, that's right, THE SKUZZIES heading for the charts …. Lets shake things up a tad and weed out the wasters , fraudsters and general parasites that are in danger of engulfing the music scene in the UK .

PETE DOCHERTY loves THE SKUZZIES…Honest!
With SKUZZY fervour hitting fever pitch, we at FRAMINGO towers have been inundated with requests from those in the media looking for even the littlest of scrap of exclusivity surrounding the latest band to catch the imagination of the increasingly decerning public out there! Well what do you need to know? Well; the band is managed by NINA ANTONIA, biographer to JOHNNY THUNDERS and friend and confidant to PETER PERRET amongst others…. GORDON RAPHAEL, the genius behind THE STROKES & IS THIS IT? Produced their songs & views them as “THE BEST BAND TO COME OURT OF LONDON IN YEARS!”… And if that ain't enough, rumour has it that shortly after his release from Her Majesty's' Pleasure, media popular person Sir PETE of DOCHERTY was in close communication with our heroes and is well impressed with the forth- coming single! Who needs the NME when you have muckers in such high places, eh?20.05.08

BASEMENT GIG BLOWS UP A STORM!!
LITTLE JOHN ROCKET continue to astound with their unique brand of high-energy rock` n` roll roll! Those of you fortunate enough to gain entry to NICE N SLEAZY on Friday night will, like us, still be reeling from the assault on the visual and aural senses that LJR conjured up from what was surely the highpoint of their live performances to date!
With the BASEMENT (sorry!) venue filling up quite nicely just after 8:30, Airdrie- based THE REGIMENT took to the stage and provided a superb opening set which clearly met with the approval of the discerning Glaswegian punters! How refreshing to hear such a young band not scared to wear their influences on their sleeves …especially when those influences have their roots in the punk revolution of the mid to late seventies! Keep your eye on this lot!
AGAINST ONE OF THE STATE KILLERS entertained and captivated the now capacity crowd in their own fantastic & inimitable way. Theses guys truly are one of the most proficient and hard working outfits on the current scene and we at FRAMINGO highly recommend catching them live locally before they go mega nation-wide!
LJR are fast becoming seasoned pros whose growing reputation is clearly winning them new fans and supporters by the day! By each gig, the Glaswegian quintet gain in confidence and the rapport they continue to build with their loyal fans has no bounds! The stunning intro to AT AN END has the punters pushing forward to soak up the vibe! And its no surprise that b-side to current single FORGET ABOUT US keeps the throng at stage front panting for more …. Those at the back can only stand on the seated area to keep in touch with the stunning performance unfolding before them. A tight set including PICTURE OF ME , MISERY TREE and WE BECAME THEM continued to build the atmosphere that threatened to completely overwhelm the packed venue! NURMBERG paved the way for a tumultuous rendition of latest single BASEMENT , which had eager punters snapping up pre-release copies of the single in their droves after the show! A well-deserved encore of the eponymous LJR and it was all over …
To sum up, this was undoubtedly THE performance of their careers so far and augurs well for the release of BASEMENT on Monday …. Of which, more soon…. Framingo xxxxxx
PS: Images of launch will be up soon on gallery page stay tuned!!

And just for good measure, our old muckers AGAINST ONE OF THE STATE KILLERS will be joining the fray to make sure this will be a night to remember for one and all!
All this top notch entertainment on a Friday night for a measly 5 QUID! And as a special treat we can confirm that copies of BASEMENT will be on sale on the night for the special launch night price of £2!!! As Tony from TILE-IT-ALL would say, this is our FANTASTICIEST offer yet!!

Keeping it Live & Independent
Right all you music lovers out there. Little John Rocket are releasing, what we at Framingo think is, our best single ever!! Now this has taken absolutely ages to get out and we think it is well worth it. Not only are they absolutely fantastic songs but they were produced by the magician that is Rico at The Doghouse in Glasgow!!
However that is not the sole reason we are writing this. We also want to say a few things about Framingo that makes us stand out from the crass that is Pop Idol & Tanks :
